UCGretina geant4 simulation of the GRETINA Gamma-Ray Energy Tracking Array

UCGretina, a GEANT4 simulation of the GRETINA gamma-ray tracking array highly-segmented high-purity germanium detectors is described. We have developed model array, in particular Quad Module and capsules, that gives good agreement between simulated measured photopeak efficiencies over broad range energies reproduces shape Compton continuum. Both these features are needed order to accurately extract yields from spectra collected in-beam spectroscopy measurements with beams traveling at $v/c \gtrsim 0.3$ National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory Facility for Rare Isotope Beams. In process developing model, we determined millimeter-scale layers passive surrounding active volumes crystals must be included reproduce efficiencies. adopted simple effective heuristic methods determining passive-layer thicknesses by comparison simulations single crystal full array. Prospects future development discussed.
